Honey on wounds isn't a folk tale. It's a scientifically proven antibiotic the Amish have used for centuries.

How It Works

Osmotic pressure: honey draws moisture from bacteria — they die. Hydrogen peroxide: glucose oxidase enzyme slowly releases H2O2 — disinfects without tissue burn. Low pH: 3.2-4.5 — bacteria can't survive. Methylglyoxal (in manuka honey) — additional antibiotic.

Application

Rinse wound with clean water. Apply thin layer of honey. Cover with clean cloth. Change dressing 1-2 times daily. Wound heals faster, scar is smaller.

For What

Cuts, scrapes, minor burns, ulcers. NOT for deep wounds, animal bites, contaminated wounds (need a doctor).

Which Honey

Any natural unfiltered. Manuka — best but expensive. Store pasteurized — useless (enzymes killed). Your own from the apiary — ideal.
