Calendula (pot marigold) grows in every Amish garden. They make oil from it for every occasion.
Preparation
Fill jar 2/3 with dried flowers. Cover with olive or almond oil. Infuse 4-6 weeks on sunny windowsill. Strain. Store in dark bottle up to a year.
Uses
Cuts and scrapes: apply thin layer. Minor burns: reduces inflammation. Diaper rash: safe from birth. Cracked hands: rub in at night. Sunburn: soothes skin.
Why It Works
Calendula contains triterpenoids — anti-inflammatory compounds. Stimulates collagen production — wounds heal faster. Antimicrobial action — prevents infection.
