At night a buggy is nearly invisible. Dark, slow, on the road's right edge. No headlights. No brake lights.
Lighting
Kerosene lantern (traditional) — dim but gives yellow light. Battery LED lanterns (progressive communities) — brighter, safer. Reflectors — required by law.
Statistics
70% of buggy accidents occur at dusk or night. Amish know. Try not to drive after sunset. But sometimes must (birth, illness, vet). Then — lantern, prayer, and hope the driver behind the wheel is watching the road, not a phone.
