Amish don't write letters to the world. Don't give interviews. Don't blog. But if they did — one letter, one page, one attempt to explain — what would it say?

Letter

Dear World,

We're not against you. We're for ourselves. That's not the same thing.

We don't think you're bad. We think you're fast. Too fast. You run and don't see the road. We walk and see every stone.

You ask: why no electricity? Because in darkness you see stars. Why no car? Because on a horse you see your neighbor. Why no phone? Because in silence you hear God.

We're not happier than you. Not smarter. Not better. We're different. We chose slower. Quieter. Closer. Simpler.

You can choose the same. Don't need a buggy or beard. Enough to: turn off the screen. Watch the sunset. Talk to a neighbor. Bake bread. Plant a tree.

We don't invite. We don't preach. We just live. Nearby. Quietly. 300 years.

Respectfully,
Nobody in particular.
All of us.
