Amish funerals are quiet. Three days: first — preparation, second — viewing, third — burial. Hymns at each stage.

Which Ones

From the Ausbund. Same as Sunday service. No special 'funeral' hymns. Death is part of life, not a special occasion.

How They Sing

Same slow pace. No anguish. No sobbing (they try). Tears are natural, but the voice should be steady. Not because they don't grieve — because they believe: the deceased is with God. Grieving for one who's with God means doubting God.
