A horse isn't a car. Park a car — forget it. Horse needs feeding, watering, grooming, checking, loving. Every day. No weekends.
Daily
Morning: hay (5 kg), oats (2-3 kg), water (40-60 liters). Brush with curry comb (15 minutes). Check hooves (with pick). Evening: repeat.
Weekly
Check teeth. Inspect legs (swelling, cracks). Oil hooves (if dry). Shoeing — every 6-8 weeks (blacksmith visits).
Cost
Keeping a horse: $2,000-3,000/year (hay, oats, vet, shoeing). Car: $8,000-12,000/year (gas, insurance, repairs, depreciation). Horse is 3-4x cheaper.
