A buggy is built by a specialist (buggy maker). One buggy — 200-300 hours. 2-3 months.
Materials
Frame — hickory or oak. Body — plywood (thin, waterproof). Axles — steel (forged, from blacksmith). Springs — leaf steel. Wheels — wood + steel rim. Upholstery — leather or vinyl (debate: vinyl = worldly?).
Wheels
The hardest part. 14 spokes, hub, rim. All wood, fitted to the millimeter. Steel hoop heated, fitted hot — cooling, it grips the wheel tight. Lasts 20-30 years.
