No phones. Period. Need to call — go to English neighbor. Or don't call.
Middle (Old Order)
Phone booth in field (for 3-4 families). For business and emergencies. In house — forbidden. In pocket — forbidden.
Progressive
Cell phone — for business. No camera (or taped over). No internet (or disabled). Calls only. Keep in workshop, not house. Don't use after 6 PM.
Smartphones
Officially — no. Actually — 30-40% of Amish youth have a 'secret' smartphone. In Rumspringa — openly. After baptism — in desk drawer. Or not. Community knows. Pretends not to.
